Individuals and families in need are eligible to receive groceries once a month. Packages include enough food for 4–5 meals and are available Monday through Friday from 1 – 3 pm.

SJSSC offers referrals for emergency shelter, furniture, and substance disorder treatment to connect individuals with needed resources.

SJSSC provides case management and emergency services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS through the Ryan White program. Clients also receive groceries from the Health and Wellness food pantry.

The St. James Diaper Bank offers diapers for children and briefs for adults, as well as period products. These are available Tuesday – Thursday between 11 am – 1 pm.

The Soulfood Café serves lunch Monday through Friday from 12 – 2 pm and dinner Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5 – 6 pm. Meals are prepared to-go, with outdoor dining available.

SJSSC provides rental assistance, security deposits, and utility bill support through the NJ DCA, County of Essex and the City of Newark . Services are available for Newark and Essex County residents after meeting eligibility requirements and availability of funding.

The Clothing Distribution Program allows clients to “shop” for gently used clothing. Over 500 winter coats are distributed during the colder months.

The Be a Blessing Holiday Distribution provides holiday meals to over 400 families and distributes 1,500+ toys to children. A hot meal is served the day after Thanksgiving.
